inserting new scenes can be very slow

With a new project inserting a scene is very fast.
As soon as I start adding a complex rack to a track, the scene insert becomes really slow. Is that normal?

I'd say yes, unfortunately... When sets became quite large such actions definitely needs more time.
You should observe the same when e.g adding a new track.

yes, although it was only 2 tracks and 1 rack with about 10 sub racks of sliced loops into simplers, no other plugins.

also slicing loops to simplers is slow going if you have lots to do - partly I guess because it creates a new track each time. be nice if it could be done another way - directly to a preset rather than a track or targeted into a rack in existing track.

I wonder if you change the buffer size wether that would help. It will stop audio problems at least
