Audio clip modulation env. only available if "warp" is activated?
Audio clip modulation env. only available if "warp" is activated?
Hi folks,
I notice that in audio clips, modulation envelopes are only available if "warp" is activated.
Is that correct?
It's not a big deal but i can't really see any logic to it.
Thanks! ........ Mr D

Yes, that's the way it is.

OK!
But am i right in thinking that when you manually activate that "warp" mode, the sound doesn't actually change in any way? .... at least until you start fiddling with the settings?

This is true for all warp modes except Complex and Complex Pro, and only when the source audio tempo and the project tempo are exactly the same.

I don't quite follow.
When one turns on "warp" manually, it defaults to "Beats".
Are you saying that when you do this, if the BPM of your project and audio file are not identical, then the sound will be somehow changed?

Yes. If you look at the Audio Fact Sheet section of the manual it goes into more detail about this.

Re: Audio clip modulation env. only available if "warp" is activated?
OK, but just to be clear, i just tested it with a drum loop that has a completely unrelated BPM, and when i press the "warp" button, in order to give me access to the envelopes, the audio wasn't changed in any way (i did a null test to prove it to myself).
So anyway, that's good news!
I had these settings in the prefs when i imported the audio:
Loop\Warp Short samples set to "unwarped one shot"
&
Autowarp long samples set to "off"
