Midi tracks for external keyboard sounds

Post by Ralph A » Tue Apr 16, 2019 4:43 pm

Hi. I'm using the free Ableton Live 10 lite before deciding to buy. I have got it to allow me to record 2 midi tracks but no way will it let me add any more. Is the lite set to a maximum of 2 midi tracks for an external sound source? Also finding it difficult to select the right in / out midi options. The system does recognise my Roland FA7 but as I say, will only let me have 2 midi channels working. Every time I load up I get a loud 'chord' twice which I'm guessing indicates an error.
Any help appreciated.

PS I'm able to compose using the onboard sounds which are okish.

You can use up to 8 tracks in Lite, those can be either audio or MIDI, so you can have up to 8 MIDI Tracks.

About specific hardware, maybe someone has that same gear here, but it is probably faster to contact the manufacturer's support and check their website, should have FAQs, manual, etc.

Live defaults to "All Channels" in the MIDI input, not sure what problem you have.

My problem is with Ableton Live 10 Lite as i stated above - I can make it record from my keyboard and play back perfectly 2 tracks with different instruments. When I add another track it Ableton doesn't record or play back. I also get a crashing sound when I load up a song which I assume means that something is wrong but I have no idea what. I need to get this right before spending any money on one of the versions on offer.

Thanks
