MIDI Fader Scaling

Post by Flying Soda » Tue May 21, 2019 7:41 am

Hello,

My goal is essentially to make DJ knobs, and I'm having a really hard time doing that natively in Live. I've been trying to figure out a way to change the scaling of midi controlled parameters to do this. For instance, the track gain when controlled by midi follows an exponential curve, and I'd like it to follow a custom curve.

The kind of knobs I want to make are things like controlling two volume parameters with a fader, in which keeping the fader centered in the slide (value 67) will leave both tracks -6db quieter. But, as I push the fader to the side, one of the tracks will quickly turn down to nothing and the other will approach nominal 0.

Another example would be controlling a lowpass and highpass filter, where the lowpass filter will only move with values above 67, and highpass below 67.

If there are other methods to do these things, I'm open to try those! I'm not very good with MAX, but I'm willing to try, if that's a method.
