Z & X shortcuts do not work at all..

it's gold for me, i need to get those working if poss... otherwise working in ableton is going to be a bit more tedious than usual

Do not work in what context? What are you doing and what are you expecting they will do? Are you in arrangement and you want them to zoom? Keyboard MIDI mode and you want them to play a note? Used with modifiers and you want them to do something else?

Also, PC/Mac?

there is a little 'keyboard' icon on the top right-hand corner of the screen to enable using the computer keyboard...

That's why mentioning what you were trying to do is important as most people wouldn't have considered you were trying to play MIDI

Yup! You can toggle the keyboard mode on and off by pressing “M” btw - super handy.
