I can understand why, but I'm quite bothered with this. You can automate the pitch parameter just fine, but when you map it to MIDI or to a Macro, it's constrained to semitones. That makes me impossible to recreate some pitch manipulation on stage, in live.
Any chance to have an option to map it "unquantized" ?

With these older devices there's unlikely to be any change.
I imagine the process goes like this
Customer suggests very minor but useful change to Device X
Ableton Staff put it in the (big-ish) list of changes various people have suggested for Device X
At an Ableton meeting somebody mentions that Device X is due for a refresh
A team is put together to investigate all the potential features
A month later they report on some great new X-tech, also some visualisation developments
Another month later they have a large list of changes that Device X2 could have
At that moment an urgent deadline needs to be met and the team is stripped of 2 key members
At next weeks meeting is is agreed that Device X is less important than 100 other things right now. Lets get back to this.
2 teams member leave to start an ecological taxidermy company
12 months later a customer suggests very minor but useful change to Device X
5 years later Device X2 comes out, it's completely different and has a bunch of new flaws.
....and that's why this minor change will almost certainly never happen. Sorry.
