Midi Drums produce sound but no notes

I have a drum MIDI controller, and I used to be able to record the hits into midi notes just fine. Now, it might record 1 in every 35 hits. All intended hits come through the speakers, but nothing is recorded in the midi track. Weirdly enough, if I turn on each individual channel it also captures all the audio from the Plugin... just not the notes. Any ideas?

I have opened up the controller in another DAW and it has no problems producing noise AND capturing the notes. I assume there is an Ableton setting somewhere that I'm missing?

Exact same issue here.

No issues with drumkit - all note on/off working properly as per MidiOX.

Hitting drum pads triggers sounds in a drum-rack perfectly fine, the issue is with capture of midi information when recording - 90% or so notes missing. No pattern that I can see, not a note range issue. Drum hits just not recording as played despite triggering drum rack samples correctly.

Ableton 10 Suite, Win7 64-bit
Alesis Surge drumkit (via USB - have swapped out cable so not that)

Edit - have submitted a ticket so will update with findings

Thank you, I am still having this issue as well.

Have tried resetting the Kit to Factory settings, have also deleted the Ableton.cfg file

AlesisDM7X, Win 10 for me.

I don't think I have it set to anything specific? The default?

I'm kinda new to the DAW.
My midi keyboard controller can use the drum plugin just fine

I'd check what its set to as a starter if unsure as it will govern how the notes are "locked" to the grid.

I can't really follow what your screen shots are suppose to be demonstrating but if you are new, i'd dial back what you are doing and try and understand what you have and how it works as a start. Is your midi device actually an mpk249? Because in this image, the control surface Input is not active:

Seems you have an Alesis DM7X so I would suggest removing all the Control Surface settings you have there since it seems you do not have a "control surface" but just a drum midi device. Just use it as an input and set Track input to on. Nothing else needs to be set.

Thanks! Looking forward to the outcome of your ticket as I'm facing the same issue: 10.1 not recording eDrum MIDI notes, e.g. triggers via MIDI track indicator/ Track Volume/ etc., and can hear but once record is initiated, be it as a clip in session view; or, within arrangement view - no notes register in midi editor or MIDI clip. Also, when I attempt to utilize the Capture MIDI feature, Ableton crashes. I do not experience this problem with 9 Lite/ Suite, or in 10.0x. Plus, I've already tried starting w/ a new pref...cgf, removing 10.1 and re-installing it; but, those efforts were unsuccessful as the issue continues.

System details are as follows: Lenovo Flagship High Performance Desktop PC | Intel Core i5-4460S Quad-Core| 2.90 GHz| 16GB RAM| Hybrid 2TB HDD/8GB SSD | Windows 10 v1903.

Sorry for late response, life took hold.

This was the response:

Thank you for contacting Techncial Support.

This, unfortunately, is a bug in Live 10.1 with certain Alesis devices.

The two known workarounds are;

1. Use a midi cable rather than USB

2. Downgrade to 10.0.6

Let me know if you would like me to send you a download link to 10.0.6

Warm regards,

-Miles M
Ableton Inc.

Using a Midi cable for now, and works fine.

it works only in the vertical view. so just press tab then you can see it.
