Adjustments for SSD Drives

Post by thebrokenone » Tue Jul 09, 2019 4:53 pm

Just got a new laptop, it has a 128GB SSD drive. Is there a sort of checklist of making the necessary adjustments for this? Basically, I set the User Library and Factory Packs destination folders to my other larger harddrive. Anything else?

Other than 128GB is maybe a bit on the small size, no adjustments of any kind are needed. They're just faster, quieter and draw less power than HDDs and that's it.
Live 10 Suite, 2020 27" iMac, 3.6 GHz i9, MacOS Catalina, RME UFX, assorted synths, guitars and stuff.

Any rules of thumb as to what I should/shouldn't store on them? I read somewhere to keep programs on the SSD (Ableton, VCV Rack etc), sample libraries on the HDD

I keep sample libraries and Lives’ library, user library etc. on an SSD because of the fast seek times.

I use another SSD for projects. And the MacBook’s internal drive for software, plugins etc.
