Playing warped songs independent from project time

Post by PantyPogo » Tue Jul 23, 2019 5:44 pm

Hi,

I'm playing a live set in 3 days and the live set has gotten a very variable tempo ambient kind of feel. What i'd like to do is use the ableton loop function in warp mode, but play the songs in their original BPM independently from the master tempo.

Does anyone know how to do this? Need help fast.

Something like might require using non-clip means, like a Sampler or the Looper. If the loop is short enough, even using Delay with feedback can be an option.

If you’re changing tempo as this is looping, those are the primary options. If you just have something that s a different tempo than the set, then remove the warp markers, add a new marker and just set the marker to be whatever tempo your set is.

Huh. I had totally forgotten that clips can't be looped unless warped... Only thing that comes to mind is a Max For Live device called Fortrek. Think it's on maxforlive.com. Loads up to 4 sounds and each can have its own looping settings. Actually pretty great for non-standard, ambient looping stuff.
