Good day to all,
Using Ableton Suite for an on stage keyboard rig, I want to gradually bring in layers from my instrument rack when my mod wheel is above a specific value. Once a layer is active, I want it to start at 0 volume and gradually increase in volume as i spin the modwheel up. This would be great to build and bring in additional layers when we hit the chorus of a song with one smooth easy motion.
Is there a way to do this in ableton?!?!?!? Mainstage does it easily, but I don't own a mac.
See example below (the video example is clearer)
Mod wheel Active
Percentage Layers
______________________________________________
0 % Pad only
1 - 30 % Pad and Piano
31 - 60 % Pad, Piano, and Strings
70 - 100 % Pad, Piano, Strings, and Synth
Example starting at 3:55

Mod Wheel Layering Question
Re: Mod Wheel Layering Question
You can create a Instrument Rack with 4 Chains (Pad, Piano, Strings, and Synth), then set the Chain Select Zones to fit those proportions, then you MIDI assign the Mod Wheel to the "Chain Selector" (note: mod wheel MIDI CC won't be usable as normal mod wheel anymore.).

EDIT: Oh wait, you want the mod wheel working as normal.
Then you need M4L ,as normal MIDI assign removes the assigned MIDI from normal usage:

With Multimapper32MIDI 3.0 you can assign mod wheel to one of the Master knobs, then you assign the various A#, B#, etc. (which have curves you can set, similar to the video) to the gain output in the Chains or Instruments (in a 4 Chain Rack). Use one of them with the mod wheel knob in the MIDI Ctrl 1.0 device to send the mod wheel MIDI CC.

Re: Mod Wheel Layering Question
Thanks! The Midi Mapper that allows me to adjust the curve transforms of each mapping is just what I needed!
