About Capture MIDI

Post by carlodemarchis » Mon Sep 23, 2019 8:38 pm

Hi All,
from an ignorant rookie.
I am using a lot the capture MIDI function and love it - absolute killing feature!
Very often my workflow is:
1. Play the base clips in Session View (a scene normally)
2. Improvise on some defined bars (4) until I get something that I like (on M32 or Launchpad mini)
3. click Capture MIDI and get the whole thing where the latest bars at the very end on the right
4A. if decent and something I want to keep I do Crop Clip from the menu
4B. if not ok, not sure what I do I guess i manually delete what I added
5. continue in overdub until I am happy with the result

Is there a better way of doing it?

I have to constantly go back and forth on the laptop and it would be cool to have ways to assign MIDI
I was able to assign Capture MIDI to User 2 of the launchpad but I cannot find a way to assign MIDI Crop Clip

Any idea or suggestion?

Thanks

Push does have a crop midi feature, so there's probably something you can do from M4L but I haven't check.

The new novation launchpads have the MIDI capture button made explicit - great
