hello,

I just bought a USB microphone to be able to record my voice on music. But the problem is that I do not find it on Ableton, I know, knowing that I had already asked the question, that it is necessary to do a manipulation "style" create a track only for the microphone! Hence, I need your help.
Kind regards

thank you for your answer, for the moment Ableton did not recognize it at all!

Have you checked it works outside of ableton?

Assuming yes it does, then have you tried all the possible (totally unofficial but so works sometimes) starting the program with it plugged in, tarting the program with it unplugged then plugging it in, rebooting the computer with it plugged in etc etc?

Can you open the drop down menu for input and sing/talk/tap into the mic, does any of the possible inputs register a sound?

Have you searched preferences? If it's a USB mic it might think its a controller of some kind...?

USB mics usually show up in Live's preferences as audio devices and it may need enabling there.

Are you using Windows or a Mac? It will help people to help you if they know which operating system you are using. Knowing the make and model of the microphone might help as well.

It's not Lives job to recognize this, your sound card or audio hardware needs to provide for this. When in doubt: get the Asio4All drive if you haven't already.
Before this suggestion it may help to know if you are indeed on Windows (and can use Asio4All) or on Mac

I haven't used Asio4All because my audio interface has its own decent drivers but on Windows you may have an issue using a USB mic PLUS your audio output being on different devices. Live allows selection of only a single audio device to work with so if you select the USB mic you may be able to record but your speakers will not be routed.

On Mac I believe you can select different input and output hardware and maybe Asio4all on Win offers that same function, I am not sure.

I did not do all that but I get closer to it.

Windows 10 and 1byone for the microphone.

What makes you think Live has to?

So here I have this pretty neat Samson USB microphone. (Samson G-Track). I love this thing because it also provides a line-in feature but that's besides the point.

What is ontopic though is that this is the only way Live recognizes it:

Here I am talking into the mic, please notice that Live does not mention anything about my mic at all....

I have Asio 4all!

I tried again, I use the control I found in the drop-down list: microKontrole. I have the little microphone on my audio track. I have not tried the command yet: Sends only. I use a USB micro directly connected to PC (Asio4all). No amplification, which may be a problem. I'm waiting for my new pre-amplified sound card.
