Bug : Program Changes are not sent when starting song
When sending PC messages from MIDI clips :
It works perfectly. Except the first time when hitting play.
Here's my scenario :
- put a MIDI clip and set a PC message to change a patch on a synth.
- save the set with the clip in playing state.
- reload the set, hit play (global transport), or trigger the scene where the clip is located.
- The PC is not sent.
- trigger the clip again or hit stop then play. It works.

I'm not 100% sure but I feel like I've heard about something similar not so long ago.
Is it something that used to work as expected for you?
Which Live version are you running?

I don't know if it worked before. I'm using a lot of PC messages lately, but I didn't much in the past.

No, I'm talking about hardware synths.
It works fine except for the first one.

You should update Live to the latest.
A recent fix was about very short midi messages not being transmitted correctly... that could be it.
[edit] my bad, this was in L10.1.2, so this might not be related...[edit]

What happens if it’s not saved in a playing state? Just off the top of my head, I’d guess that a clip saved in a playing state retains the playhead position. If the program change is sent only at the beginning of each clip’s playback cycle, then there’s your answer. Just a thought.

Thanks for the reply.
Unfortunately it doesn't really help because the point is that I want to save the playing state.
Indeed, if the set is saved with the clip stopped, launching the first scene (where the clip with a PC resides) will work.
In some use cases this would be ok. But in some others, for instance, I want the set to be saved in a states where only some clips in scene #1 would be playing on start.

The bug has just been confirmed by Ableton. Hopefully it will be fixed soon.
Meanwhile, M4L will remain my best friend as always.
