Sidechain groups, is a second compressor usefull?

Post by TanteTrudi » Wed Jan 15, 2020 10:02 am

Hello community
I'm struggeling with the question, if I need a 2. compressor when i use one to sidechain. For example I sidechain the bassgroup to the kick. Do I need a second Cluecompressor do glue the different basslines in the group together or is it enough with the sidechaincompressor?
Thx for help

Ultimately, mess around and use your ears - what sounds best?

My guess is the side gain compressor has pretty fast attack and release as its function is to duck signal, so it would definitely be worth experimenting with a second compressor :)
