Multiple Versions of Ableton 10 -Issue with Authorization

Post by SD Rabin » Sat May 23, 2020 5:27 pm

Hi,

I installed both 10.1.1 and 10.1.14. I am not running them simultaneously. I want to open and work on 10.1.1 projects without being forced to save-as, like when opened in 10.1.14. The problem is with authorization. When I go to authorize 10.1.1 after a fresh install, 10.1.14 opens up to be authorized and 10.1.1 remains in a restricted mode. I renamed the 10.1.14 application to distinguish versions–for what it's worth. It seems like both versions of 10 are using the same preference folders/files. Not sure how to stop that. I had to uninstall 10.1.14 to authorize 10.1.1.

Thanks to anyone who can offer some help.

Using a Mac. I guess the most basic question I have is–is it possible to have 2 versions of Live 10 that don't share preference/plugin libraries etc.? Thanks!

Yeah you can run 2 different versions, but they mostly share preferences and plugin librairies yes.
