I know you said only one, but for me, I would like to see a better bit crusher/distortion/saturation plugin. I'm using a lot of 3rd party plugins for that.
Saturator is one of my favorites though for drums. I think Ableton does pretty well when it comes to basic saturation/distortion (at least for synths and drums).
Hardly ever use the Redux though, it definitely could be improved.
Ableton Amp is ok for Guitars but not great.
Overdrive - I never use this even though I hear it is good.
Dynamic Tube - Extremely subtle and a bit convoluted GUI but once you dial it in properly using the envelopes, its not bad.
All three of the following though are great for distortion:
Autofilter
Pedal
Drum Buss
I find myself reaching for 3rd party plugins constantly for all of that. I'm using Fabfilter Saturn, Decimort, Rx 950, SP950, SAMPLEX, Softube Tape, The Crush Pack, and RC 20.

Saturn is one of my favorites though especially for more smoother distortion.
Crush pack bite I use alot too.
Saturator though is one of my favorites for drums as it gets aggressive without being too harsh (to my ears at least).
I think M4L has some more options like color limiter but I never really use it.

I would like to see all existing devices having undocked floating bigger versions.
Like a regular VST window, that won’t disappear when changing track focus.
+1 on that!!!

It can be an upgraded version of what's there now, or something totally new. Instrument or audio effect, up to you. What's the one thing you find yourself wishing for over and over (or going to third party options for) when using Live?
Ready..... discuss!
Upgraded Utility device to include sophisticated Peak, RMS and Dynamic Range metering with numeric displays.
Similar to DMG TrackControl.

A full fledged near Kontakt or Falcon level sampler.
Live is one of the few DAWs that you can 'create' something like this in, but at the expense of your CPU, not unlike how Reaktor "could" create Massive.
That's always an extra step as a plug in, saving and making sure a song or Set has all the Kontakt, Falcon etc. samples consolidated. The beauty of Sampler and Simpler is they collect and save with the Set, but they aren't at a Konakt or Falcon etc. level of control.

I just wanna say if you include the M4L Convolution Reverb as a native plugin that is an absolutely amazing reverb.
And this is a Tarekith appreciation thread now

A better looper with more options. For example the ability to keep the sample at the same pitch when changing tempo. Or one that doesn’t play back back the loop when deleting the buffer (tap twice). Or one that automatically generates clips like bink looper but still has the ability to make loops that are shorter or longer than multiples of a bar. Etc.
