Here is my latest performance test:

1. Ableton Live CPU Meter % with the Live Set for the Lesson. 9% max
2. Maximum number of playback tracks? 544 (34 groups of 16 tracks), was possible to still add 3 more groups, but thought it was enough
3. Laptop/Desktop? Make/Model? 2020 iMac 20,2
4. Operating System? 10.15.7
5. Ableton Live version? 10.1.18 Suite
6. CPU Make, Model, and Speed? i7 10700 - 3,8 GHz 8-Core
7. Amount of Ram? 32GB - 3200
8. Sound card? Apogee Duet
9. Hard Disk type (SSD or HDD)? 970 EVO M.2 (3400 MB/s Read // 2300 MB/s Write)
Are you sure you are using the same buffer size and other test settings? The 2020 i9 iMac scores 18% with 16 tracks like TLW posted before, and the i7 outperforming the i9 by twice as much seems incorrect. I'm really interested in the i7/i9 differences. Jobinho, you seem to have been doing a LOT of research on this, how exactly does your i7 compare to the i9?

My latest performance test:

1. Ableton Live CPU Meter % with the Live Set for the Lesson. 23% max with 16 tracks, 30% max with 32 tracks, 50% max with 64 tracks, 75% max with 128 tracks
2. Maximum number of playback tracks? 256
3. Laptop/Desktop? Desktop
4. Operating System? Windows 10 Pro x64
5. Ableton Live version? 10.1.25 Standard
6. CPU Make, Model, and Speed? i7 4790K @ 4.0GHz
7. Amount of Ram? 16GB
8. Sound card? SSL 2+
9. Hard Disk type (SSD or HDD)? 512GB Samsung 860 EVO

I'm actually curious as to why my cpu % is so high compared to similar or less powerful builds. Is SSL 2+ notorious for having poor ASIO performance?

1. Ableton Live CPU Meter % with the Live Set for the Lesson. 20% max
2. Maximum number of playback tracks? 320 - see remarks
3. Laptop with Desktop processor Clevo P751-TM1
4. Operating System? Windows 10
5. Ableton Live version? 10.1.25 Suite
6. CPU Make, Model, and Speed? i9-9900K all cores @ 4.4 (8cores, 16 threads)
7. Amount of Ram? 64GB - 2400
8. Sound card? NI Maschine MK3
9. Hard Disk type (SSD or HDD)? 970 EVO M.2

Playing the whole track without problems stops at 320 tracks. CPU usage is around 70% but demanding parts of the track will reach to the max.
Using more tracks will have CPU usage above 100% at those demanding parts thus with problems.

However;
Looping the track at bar 34 -> 20% with 16 tracks
Looping the track at bar 34 -> 80% with 416 tracks without problems (more tracks would give small hiccups)
Looping the track at bar 34 -> 95% with 496 tracks and hiccups

I tested it on a new laptop (ASUS TUF A15).

type raptop
OS windows10
Ableton Live version live10 suite
CPU ryzen7 4800H 8core-16thread (2.9-4.2GHz)
RAM 16GB
Soundcard audient EVO4
Hard Disk type SSD
To reduce the CPU load, I use geforce instead of the radeon in the ryzen when using live.

CPU usage on the first 16 tracks was higher than I expected, around 20 percent, but the increase after that was slower.
After 256 tracks, the CPU usage in the second half of the song started to exceed 90%.
Finally, after 304 tracks, the CPU usage reached 100%.
I was very surprised by this result, the ryzen4000 laptop has a lot of power and proved to be very useful in live use.
I hope these test results will be helpful to you.

1. Ableton Live CPU Meter % with the Live Set for the Lesson – 34%
2. Maximum number of playback tracks? – 84 (grouped the 16 tracks, then duplicated until audio started to breakup)
3. Laptop/Desktop? Make/Model? – Apple Macbook Air M1 Late 2020
4. Operating System? – macOS 11
5. Ableton Live version? – 10.1.30 Suite Trial

Remarks: This is done through Rosetta 2 - so basically emulating a x86 Intel. Hopefully performance will get better when Live is optimized for the Apple M1 ... It was a bit disappointing since I could not beat my 2014 Macbook Pro With i7 2,5Ghz and 16 GB Ram :(
