Looking for a convolution reverb as a replacement of the M4L one
Due to random resets of parameters on the M4L Convolution Reverb, I'm looking for a VST replacement.
I mainly use large halls and churches and "vintage" spring reverbs.
Any recommendations ?

Are you looking for a freeware VST?chapelier fou wrote: ↑Thu Jun 04, 2020 11:49 amDue to random resets of parameters on the M4L Convolution Reverb, I'm looking for a VST replacement.

Not necessarily free. Thanks for the link!

Some recommendations (not necessarily convolution).
1. Fabfilter Pro R (algorithmic)
Great for real rooms sound. Not much for springs.
2. Valhalla Room (algorithmic)
Great for real rooms sound. Not much for springs. Valhalla has some other options for Springs I believe.
5. NI Guitar Rig Reflektor (convolution)
Pretty cool as it allows tempo synced reverb. Has some good springs here.
6. Reason (RV7000) (convolution and algorithmic)
Love this alot better than Ableton's Reverb. One of my favorite DAW reverbs. You might not like the algorithms but it does convolution and honestly the algorithms are pretty decent to me for a stock reverb.
Good spring impulses. I believe this is included in Reason intro if you dont need all the other stuff in the full version of Reason (which has some other nice things included in the Intro alone).
Convolution I dont think is as popular as it was in the 2000s as alot of algorithmic reverbs in DAWS improved considerably. You probably would be good with just freeware if you just need convolution only.

i would suggest SIR3 — especially if you plan to use it live:
https://www.siraudiotools.com/SIR3.php
the big one of course is Altiverb:

Thanks all. About to try a few
SIR makes Ableton Live 10 crash instantly. Goodbye.
HOFA IQ needs a stupid plugin manager, couldn't wrap my head around it.
Altiverb has no public trial version. Had to contact support.

That one is simple - no dongle or similar, never had a problem with that. I haven't tried, but I think you can remove after install the vst as you can update from within the vst itself.
I keep as I own the complete suite and the manager makes it an easy way to controll all the plugins.

Managed to get a link for Altiverb. Long story short : it needs an "ilok" dongle.
I've read about it here and there in the past, and just realized how stupid this system is.
NO WAY I'm using this crap. I'm a touring musician, so I guess if I lose the usb stick after a gig, I'm just fucked up, right ?

in your case it would make sense to do the Zero Downtime thing iff you decided to go the dongle route:chapelier fou wrote: ↑Thu Jun 11, 2020 7:33 amManaged to get a link for Altiverb. Long story short : it needs an "ilok" dongle.

i've no idea how much it costs though.
another reverb option is Reverberate 2. uses iLok but doesn't require a dongle. i haven't used it but it's a reputable developer:

Re: Looking for a convolution reverb as a replacement of the M4L one
- Reverberate is indeed a very deep and good sounding convultion reverb and I don't think it requires ilok (only the newest plugins from Liquidsonics use ilok)
- Valhalla Vintage Verb is great too (it's algorithmic though)
