Your thoughts / experience on collaboration?

Post by mrdelurk » Mon Jun 22, 2020 9:18 pm

How I collaborate with a remixer on an EDM project while retaining some say over the outcome? (For quality control.)

If I just sling a song's stems up onto Splice.com or similar place, if someone else creates a really awful remix and posts it on youtube/etc., I'm up the creek without a paddle, no?

I've always held to the thought that if someone can take what I've made and make something new out of it that would the best thing for my work.

if you want quality control over someone else's work then why do you need them? who's bringing what to the table?

I'm a little confused. Have you copyrighted your tracks? Releasing on your own label? Legal ownership?

But, you want to upload the stems for anyone to download?

If you want to retain rights and keep tabs on who's doing what, then don't upload it to the public domain, mate.
