I do something that creates loops inadvertently as I work.
I play back and am surprised that a section repeats.
Any suggestions?
2. How do I delete all loops (in a track)?
Delete All loops
Re: Delete All loops
Not clear what is being talked about here.
Recording in Session? Or Arrangement Record?
Live has 2 Record buttons in the top bar, and they do very different things.
(Plus the record buttons in slots in Session View, and Scene trigger settings.)
Your post kinda sounds like Arrangement Record recording Clips that are playing in Session View into Arrangement View, but again, not sure.
Ableton doesn't implement highly destructive actions like "Delete All loops" in Live, you have to select manually the stuff your want deleted.
You can move the marker to the beginning with Home key, then press shift+End to select until the end of the track (then Delete, if you want to delte everything), maybe that saves you some time.
Can select multiple tracks with dragging up/down, ctrl+click or shift+up/down.

Re: Delete All loops
Thanks, I see I have assumed the record was the same . I am confused, my fault.
when I ask to "delete all loops" .. I don't mean to delete the recorded sound (Clips), just to disable all the repeating..
(because when I recorded the clips I never intended to set a repetition)
I see I don't understand , so I'll read the manual.
Today I think Ableton is the most amazing toy I ever had, if I can master it as a tool I'll be ecstatic.

Re: Delete All loops
So you mean the recorded stuff in Session View always loops and you don't want that?
Unfortunately, Live always set new Clips recorded in Session View to Loop. AFAIK there are no settings to disable it.
To disable Loop in multiple Clips already recorded, select them all and disable Loop in the Clip View editor in the bottom (shift+Tab changes between Clip View and Device View), it will disable it for all selected Clips.

Re: Delete All loops
yes, that 's it. I record mostly long takes that I wish to play through once ..
Re: Delete All loops
Recording into arrangement view might suit you better than recording into session view. If you then want to put the clips into session view you can cut/copy and paste them across between the views.
