Soloing tracks routed through outboard gear

Post by griffjen » Sun Jul 12, 2020 11:55 pm

Question about routing in ableton using UA gear:

I have an Apollo x8 and a Twin. I have my tracks in Ableton routed out to an 8 channel summing mixer. The mixer output then goes back into the x8 on inputs 1 and 2. Then I want to send that signal out of the Twin outputs 3-4 to an outboard stereo bus compressor, and back into the computer through the Twin inputs 1-2. I can do all this through Ableton just fine, except that whenever I solo a track I have to also go and solo my mix bus track as well. In UA console I was able to send the signal from the x8 to the twin using the 3-4 send, but it doesnt really solve the problem because now I can't hear any of the processing I'm doing to the mix bus within Ableton. Any workarounds for this? The main issue is that I can’t solo one track in Ableton without also soloing the mix bus.
