I just put Live on a 30" Monitor.

I went to the Apple store today and just for grins I put Live 5 demo on their dual 2.7 Ghz G5 tower with a 30" Monitor.

All I can say is... I WANT IT.

Fetish to the extreme. What an amazing amount of real estate that is. Blown up to full screen mode and you can just stare at the screen in Live blissout mode.

:)

My 23' monitor size drops jaws like a willing pornstar giving out head but having 30' now thats something i would get repeat freebies everytime no question. Size does matter here.

wow. how far away do you have to be from the screen for it to be comforatable? cuz i can imagine that you would get a neck strain or something from looking back and forth.

Haaaa! That's right. I guess you could sit 1 metre away and it all looks perfect.... Just imagine watching DVDs on that screen!

I'd actually prefer to be as far from the screen as possible. For some reason I have the impression that sitting close to a smaller screen is slowly damaging my eyesight :( (but would a bigger screen from farther back be any different?)

I think so, particularly since you are less exposed to its radiation the farther you're away.

Apple's 30" monitor is an LCD, yes? If so there's nothing to worry about.

CRTs emit significant amounts of radiation, especially the older ones. But LCDs don't operate by flinging relativistic electrons at the back of the screen... hence little or no dangerous radiation. I'd be surprised if LCDs emit any significant radiation. Maybe a tiny bit from the cold-cathode fluorescent lamps that illuminate the screen, but compared to what a CRT spews it's probably negligible.

haha ok so then you would get an eye strain. ouch

and i think you would look kinda freakish with your head locked in one postion and your eyes moving around a 30" screen.
