Randomize Function

Post by nebulae » Sun Jul 24, 2005 3:18 am

Has anyone requested an intelligent randomize button on synths and effects? Something that might yeild bizarre results when you're just farting around?

If so, I'd love to know what the user base reaction was.

It one thing I like in P5 .
You options apart form selecting presets are.
Load FXP
Save FXP
Load FXB
Save FXB
Patch Randomize.

Its a great way to start programing patches with your instruments and then tweak and refine too taste.

I'm a great fan of randomize buttons.
Like in Cameleon.

If you want to randomize say Operator, you could do some work with Plogue Bidule:
* Set up a random oscillator
* Set up another
* Let the other determine which CC # is to be produced
* Feed the first to a CC creator
* Assign the CC's to different knobs etc in operator
* Record the CC in different clips
* Use follow actions to switch the clips and route the midi CC out and in again....

parameter randomize is very high on the wishlist of Abletons instrument / efffects department. Chances are good it will be in in the nearer future.

hey Robert,
I think you should consider an externally-controlled randomize function which Ableton HQ can use at will on some forum moaners... then you could randomize the tempo of their set while they are playing live...

Woops, my drum and bass set suddenly dropped to 42BPM... now that's random...

If you have energyXT and use it as a VSTi, then you can load up any non-Ableton VST and use the randomize patch function.

Pretty cool workaround for right now. With the exception that it won't work for Ableton stuff.
