Error: Can't open database: database cant be created

Post by Bram Vana » Sat Sep 12, 2020 3:31 pm

Hi all,

I'm having trouble opening an older project which i did in Ableton 9 into Ableton 10 but i run into an error which makes Ableton crash.
I've opened other older projects which had no problem but with a few i get the error "Can't open database: database cant be created" and Ableton just shuts down when i press ok.

I tried clearing my database folder but no succes so far.

Does anyone have some info on this issue, i'm about to install ableton 9 again, so i can at least get the stems from the project, but i kinda want to avoid having to do that.

Hope someone can help me with this!

Cheers,

Bram

You could try opening those tests from Live's Browser:
open an empty live set
make sure these sets are accessible from your Places
open your set's folder and navigate to the tracks level
drag the tracks (all of them, or one by one if you need to be more analytic) from the Browser to your Session/Arrangement

let us know if it works

Also, you'll find a few articles here that might be helpful.
