installing Ableton 11 upgrade question

I have Ableton 10 suite and plan on upgrading to Ableton 11 suite. Will Ableton 11 install right over the Ableton 10 program or do I i have to uninstall the 10 version first?

You won´t have to uninstall and you will keep your Live10. There will be two versions of ableton, but tied together.

Is this correct? You're supposed to keep Live 10 installed after installing 11?

That doesn't seem right but I haven't found a clear answer on if it causes issues or deletes packs, etc.

You can delete 10 if you want, your packs are installed in the Live Library that 11 should have already found.

Yes, most daw developers keep previous installs by default in case you have clients who haven't upgraded yet and other related things. But if you're like me who just does this as a hobby, you can uninstall 10 and everything will be fine. I just installed 11 first, then tested if everything seemed to be working, then uninstalled 10.

Hi all

Because of the issues some people had with Live 11 (and because it seems to be mainly related to Intel hardware - I'm on a macbook pro mid-2012 with Intel i7), I'd like to install Live 11 alongside Live 10 so I can be sure I will not be stuck with a bugged upgrade, but I'm afraid it will mess my install.

- Do I need to set 2 separate folders for Live 10 and Live 11 packs ?

- Is my user library the same or do I need to set a separate one for Live 11 ?
I've got PLENTY of presets, racks and stuff in it, so I don't want to mess it. I guess if I update a rack with Live 11, it will not open in Live 10 ?

Hi, just to clarify:
I'm pretty new to using ableton, and this is my first major upgrade. So before I go wrong let me ask a couple of quick questions:

1. on my macbook V11 was installed besides the old V10, as described here. That's OK for a while but in the long run I won't need to versions eating up SSD space. I checked the ableton knowledge base for "uninstall MAC", and it gives me a list of files and folders I should remove. I assume that I should ignore those if I want to keep V11, right? I.E.: I just move the application file from "programs" to "trash", and that's it then?

2. I'm also running ableton on a secondary Windows10 PC; there I guess I'll use the Windows uninstaller instead, correct? Will I have to take precautions that the uninstaller doesn't delete libraries, packs etc that still are needed for my V11 installation?
