[Workflow] Recording multiple takes with set duration.

Post by N2Astral » Mon Mar 15, 2021 12:28 am

I am looking for some workflow suggestions when it comes to recording audio.

Say I record a bass line that is some weird length like [start]:1.1.1 [end]:2.4.2. Next I want to add some guitar that I would like to loop through the duration of the bassline(2.4.2 measures) and each time it loops through it creates a new clip, from there I can choose my favorite take.

Is there a way to predifine an armed audio tracks max length where it records a new clip on each iteration of another tracks length, in this example the initial bass audio track length?

In session view trying to pull this off isn’t really ideal.

In Arrangement View it’s pretty automatic. Set the loop bar and go. It might only show one instance, but it’ll have recorded all of it. On top of that, in Live 11 you can also do comping of the takes.

Once these are recorded, you can slice the clip to pieces in arrangement view and drag all those clips to Session View if that’s your goal.
