Does anyone know why you have to select "edit value" before changing tempo values?

In most cases in Live, you can simply start typing to change a value. Why in this instance (in the automation lane) can you not? I'm sure there must be a reason having something to do with something I don't do.

There was a time when even the ‘Edit Value’ option didn’t exist. You just had to zoom in and hold Fine Tune, or create nodes by recording a quick moment of whatever tempo you wanted

I agree, clicking shouldn’t be necessary.
