I use Ableton only for backing tracks in my band. Each clip is an instrument in the backing track. In a clip is the entire song so I don’t work with separate chorus, verse clips. The backing track is started by starting the scene.
On stage I would like to start the scenes with a controller. Which controller would you advise me?

Prob look at the Launchpad as it is specifically geared towards triggering clips and scenes.

Launchpad is great, so I'd +1 jestermgee. As the drummer in our band I use Roland SPD-SX or Yamaha DTX-Multi12 as I can trigger either with sticks. The Yamaha has more MIDI capability but the Roland would be ideal for what you're after. Or if you need a foot controller the Behringer FCB1010 is popular and gives you plenty of options although I've never used it myself.
