Finished project on Ableton Live 10 Lite too low in volume

Post by Manc » Tue Jun 22, 2021 9:13 am

I am a rank beginner in this, but, having, as I thought, successfully adjusted the volumes in each track, I was pretty pleased with the result. The tracks are all audio, by the way. I sent the finished MP3 to my son, who said it was too soft in volume.

Can someone please tell me, using as little jargon as possible, how I can adjust the overall volume on the master before exporting. I don't want to upset the balance of the individual tracks.

Thanks

When mixing your audio tracks, watch the level meter for the Master channel and get this level as close to 0db as possible without it turning red.

You can also tick the Normalise check box in the bounce window when you render out your finished mix.

This is assuming he means the peak volume and not overall “loudness” which is down the quality of the mix and any mastering processes you might be using.

Thanks very much for that. I'll try it next time.
