cpu loads in session v arrangement mode
cpu loads in session v arrangement mode
Hi there
I've finished 12 tracks of electronica which I am now putting into session view for live performance.
My question is...
When I play an arrangement of 20 audio stems (no effects on individual channels, just an Izotope mastering plugin on the Master), the CPU goes up to 60%. If i freeze the stems this drops down to 10%
if I then trigger the different sections of my compositions as scenes in session view, the CPU only goes up to around 8% - even with the Izotope resource hungry mastering on. Freezing doesn't really reduce this any more, maybe down to 7%.
Why does arrangement view CPU get so high compared to session view? Is it because in arrangement Ableton is looking at a 5 minute song compared to the 30 second sections in session view?
Thanks in advance...

Re: cpu loads in session v arrangement mode
Wow, such a big difference is quite surprising! There's definitely something going on.
Which Live version are you using, and which OS?
Are you sure your e.g Arrangement automations are correctly reproduced in your Session scenes?

Re: cpu loads in session v arrangement mode
Hi
Thanks for your reply and sorry for the delay getting back - only just checked posts.
It's the Live 9 suite on High Sierra 8 gig or RAM. MBP is 2013.
Regarding automation, this has all been included when I rendered the different parts to audio - not an issue any more surely?
Thanks

Re: cpu loads in session v arrangement mode
Mmhhh...
Is your L9 up-to-date?
Your set seems very clean and light and so it coud be a bug.
Is it happening with only one set, or can you reproduce with other ones?
If it's only with a specific one, then I'd try importing the stems in a new set, and see how it goes.
If that doesn't work, then you should contact support@ableton.com

Cool!
It'd be awesome if you could explain this to support@ableton and send them the defective .als so they could analyse what was happening and maybe find relevant bit of info/bugs etc...
thx!
