Using multi timbre instruments

Post by markus1921 » Thu Jul 22, 2021 10:42 am

Hello
Please excuse my noobness because I am new to music producing. I have been trying to figure out how to record and arrange multi timbral instruments and how to actually route them . I have been using layers by orchestral tools (with sine player) and when I record music I can only pick one type of chord (layers is a chord based instrument, when you press a key it will either be a major or minor triad so you have to change it during playing).
I have tried routing 2 different channels into the sine channel but it is still kind of hard to record because you have to switch between channels.

My question is: how do you actually use this instrument? How do you arrange it in midi? Do you have to do 2 different tracks one with minor and one with major chords or is there a simpler variant?

Thank you for your answers!

Edit: I also forgot to mention that the ch. 2 in 2 MIDI won't play or recognize my playing unless it's set on ch. 1 (in the pic it is set to ch. 2)
