Save and overwrite rack/device/instrument without duplicating?

Post by marmalade » Fri Jul 30, 2021 5:36 pm

I have created an audio rack in Ableton, which I have saved as a new rack. If I want to modify this device, then how can I save and overwrite (update) without having to save as a new instance?

From the lack of responses I guess this can't be done? Without saving the modified device as a new device, and then deleting the previous iteration?

Live doesn't allow overwriting the Pack files.

When Packs are updated it would delete modified user files.

Presets/Racks that are not from Packs can be overwritten just fine.

Thanks. Wasn't sure whether I was missing something obvious, so good to know I haven't gone completely mad.
