Playback issues with recorded samples

Post by AForza » Sat Oct 09, 2021 3:23 pm

I have some earlier vocals recorded as wav-files which I wanted to add some music to using Ableton Live 11. The problem is that however I do the sound is very bad. It is kind of skips and repeat samples when playing back, making it sound awful. It's like it is trying to playback at a different speed but can't do it without jerkiness.

The original files are wav-files 32bit float 96KHz. I down-sampled these with Audacity but this this not help the problem. I also tried changing from 96khz to 44.1KHz and High Quality in Ableton ASIO settings. CPU usage is about 1% during playback. No effects or filters are loaded.

The situation is the same if i use MME/DirectX instead of ASIO output.

PreSonus Studio 26c
Dedicated PCIe USB-C card
Intel Core i7-3770K 3.5GHz
32GB RAM
2TB SSD

I've attached two samples from Ableton Live and one from Studio One so you can hear the issue. I do not have an issue with Studio One or Audacity. These were recorded with my phone, so overall soundquality isn't great, but you should still clearly be able to detect the issue.

Unwarp your files.
When you double-click your audio clip, the bottom panel opens up. To the left there's some clip properties options, you should see here a button labelled "Warp", turn it off.
