Realworld Latency and Performance @ 44.1k

Post by Casanovasolutions » Sun Oct 10, 2021 8:39 am

Dear Live-Users

After searching the web for some notes on audio interface latency performance, I often ended in more misinformation and frustration because of too much blahblah, not very much useful infos

As musicians, we search for solid gear, good performance for daily use. Manufacturers always tend to boost their features so it looks nice in their advertisements, for instance - "blazing fast roundtrip latency audio performance of 2.5ms" .......but then @ 96kHz and with just a fraction of the CPU power.

So my idea is to build up a thread ONLY with real world audio performance infos in the base SR 44.1k - so please, only post some pictures and infos regarding your system, max. CPU load before drop out. If you have something to discuss about, we can do this in a separate thread -> viewtopic.php?f=1&t=243906 . So if someone is need infos regarding this topic, here he will find it without hassle, without countless pages of nonsense.....

Okay? Here we go:

My setup: MacBook Air 7.2 (Early 2015, 13.3" i7 @ 2.2GHz, 8GB RAM, 512GB SSD - MacOS 10.14.6), Ableton Live Suite 10

Audiointerface: Zoom TAC2 Thunderbolt, SR @ 44.1KHz

@ 128 Samples Buffer, over 80% CPU load without crackling, RTL: 5.9ms

@ 64 Samples Buffer, over 80% CPU load without crackling, RTL: 2.9ms

@ 32 Samples Buffer, max. 65% CPU load without crackling, RTL: 2.18ms
