Multi Access: Storing Sessions and Samples on the Cloud?

Post by enerate josh » Sat Oct 23, 2021 8:05 am

Hi there,

Looking for some insight... Apologies in advance if this is a silly question..

I have a Desktop Mac and a notebook Mac, and am sick of carting around hard drives with me when I take the notebook away...

I'm hoping I can come up with a solution where I can have both Ableton projects and sample libraries living in cloud storage (such as Google Drive), and access both project session files and sample libraries from either desktop or macbook, and have them open each time without relinking files or messing about. My thoughts are if it all lives on the cloud, you should theoretically just be able to open it on either machine (if plugins and Ableton versions are all installed exactly the same on each machine.

Of course there is the question of data speed, and this is what may kill my theory. I'm assuming you'd have to have a blazing fast connection in order to stream samples/project files as you work.

Anyone had any success with a setup like this?

Thanks in advance! Much appreciated :)

- J
