NEST sequencer — routing MIDI channels to multiple tracks

Post by sandbags » Mon Nov 01, 2021 10:01 am

I'm currently trialling SugarBytes Nest sequencer and I've hit a limitation that appears to be related to Live.

Internally Nest generates 8 channels of MIDI which can be used to drive either its internal instruments, a VST plugin, or be routed to the host.

Here's the problem. I was expecting to be able to route individual Nest channels to MIDI tracks in Live, however, in the dropdown, I only get Nest as a plugin. I was expecting to also get "Nest Channel 1", "Nest Channel 2", …, "Nest Channel 8".

So the track will get all of the MIDI from all the Nest channels rather than being able to specify just Nest channel #1. Etc…

Is there a way around this in Live? Is this a limitation of the Nest plugin that Sugar Bytes could address (in their support forum they didn't appear to think so)? Or is this just how it is?

Many thanks for any input on the topic.

Matt

For reference, I am using Live 10.1.41. Is this perhaps something addressed in Live 11?
