Help with laser/zap sounds

First time poster here and new Ableton user!

Was wondering if anyone had any advice on getting sounds like this that appear at 3mins on this tune - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nIYTAQJQjUk

Is there some kind of LFO going on?

The traditional way to do that is with a self-oscillating filter (resonance full up) modulated by an LFO. Although that sound in the video could well be an LFO (or looping Envelope) modulating the pitch.
