You have standards for differentplatforms, to which they will compress/decrease the loudness of your track.
For example, Youtube's ref level is 14 LUFs. But in fact, you download youtube song and see -9 LUFs there.
How is that?
Do LUFs standards really work?

Re: Do LUFs standards really work?
You don’t have to use -14 LUFS. You can upload louder songs and YouTube will turn it down to -14LUFS on playback. If you then download the song, it will still be at the LUFS level it was when it was uploaded. Although YouTube themselves don’t allow direct download, so you’re also relying on whatever 3rd party ripping software you’re using too. And who knows for sure what those are doing.

Thanks very much, you made it clear for me.Tarekith wrote: ↑Tue Nov 30, 2021 3:18 pmYou don’t have to use -14 LUFS. You can upload louder songs and YouTube will turn it down to -14LUFS on playback. By the way, do you consider those reference levels for each platform you master your songs to? As I noticed, you are a professional mastering engineer.
Ones say that it all doesn't make sense and loudness war forces you to squeese the songs to -6 to -8 LUFs, others say that you have to rely on the platforms standards. And can you say something about the radio? Does it allow for not squeezing the sound? Sorry for that question assault and thanks again

Re: Do LUFs standards really work?
I don't worry about the LUFS standards unless a client specifically asks me to do it. Just make it sound good everywhere as usual.
If you're master is louder than -14LUFS, the streaming platforms will just turn it down. Rather than retype a lot of things, let me direct you to another forum I'm on that was discussing this recently:
