How to link a midi Axiom 49 keyboard to play piano on it

Post by Vincent Lartaud » Fri Dec 03, 2021 10:20 am

I know this looks stupid but I just want to play the piano with my Axiom 49 but it's impossible to link it to ableton. The device is recognised and configured in Ableton, but the keys do not respond.

Am I missing something? is this device too old to work on new versions of Ableton? Is the device waaaaaay too complicated to configure just to play piano on it (this should be the primary use of a keyboard). I need this to practice, not to mix. And eventualy to compose too.

In Live’s browser search Sounds for a Piano.

Drag that into Live.

After being dragged, the channel that is hosting the piano sound might automatically be ‘armed’ for recording. It is a red button near Mute and Solo, next to the volume fader. If it is not armed, arm it so it is red.

It the channel is armed, and in MIDI Preferences your keyboard is chosen to accept Notes as an input for Live, then the keyboard should trigger the piano sounds when you tap on the keys.
