Upgrade to Monterey, safe ?
My computer wants to upgrade to Monterey (2015 iMac, still on 10.15.7). Should I let it do so ?
What are the risks ?

Fight against the machine!
Live seems to be running fine overall on this OS. There's some problems but I don't know them on top of my head.

No issues here at all. I guess it depends on what your current OS is though, might want to make sure all your plug ins are compatible first.

Thanks. The computer is an iMac 27 from 2015, with Catalina. Very few plugins used : guitar rig, kontakt, reaktor.
I’m on the fence to buy a new Mac. But since there are no new iMac 27, what do you think about the M1 mini ?

Re: Upgrade to Monterey, safe ?
I was reluctant to upgrade from Big Sur on my M1 mini. A few days ago I succumbed to the temptation and to be honest, if I had known how seamless it all was I'd have done it earlier. Zero problems here.
Re. the M1 Mac mini I don't think my opinion can be of much help as I use Live quite lightly, mostly as a master clock, multi-track recorder, some FX and modulation via CV Tools. The only plugins I use are Reference 4, Amplitube, T-RackS, and FX Collection, and occasionally V Collection and Superior Drummer. All working perfectly fine so far.
I know there's a fan in there because I read it somewhere, but I've never heard it. Even when rendering in DaVinci Resolve.

Re: Upgrade to Monterey, safe ?
…as always with a new os the problem is native intruments…afaik their plugins are still not officially supported for monterey…and regarding ni and m1 compability you might also have to wait a few more months…given ni‘s update history we may see the m2 chip before ni will be ready for m1…

mac mini m1 16Go here, quite astonishing machine and crazily affordable (check the refurb ).
NI plugins run ok on Live silicon, you just need to use the Audio Units (VSTs can't run in Live silicon, only in Live Rosetta).

Re: Upgrade to Monterey, safe ?
No issues here on a 2018/2020 Mac mini i7. Ive been running Monterey since the public beta, which is right around the time I bought Live so I don't think I ever used it on Big Sur. I will say with this mini though, the built in GPU sucks. Bought an eGPU last month and threw my old Radeon RX570 in it, the CPU meter in Live (and Cubase and Logic) dropped up to 20% in every project so far. Only hiccup I've had so far is Waves VST3 plugs dont want to load, but the VST2s work fine. Don't think that is related to Monterey though.

Re: Upgrade to Monterey, safe ?
They changed the way that Do Not Disturb works. In Monterey you can select it by Application and location, which is a good idea. In Big Sur you could permanently turn it off, instead of going through every application to turn it off.
