Stop writing Automation to MIDI tracks?

Post by buckman » Mon Jan 17, 2022 9:41 am

Long time Ableton user, but only just using the 'resampling' function more.
How do I record from some VST's into another track (via Resampling) and twist knobs and parameters 'live' to the resampled audio track BUT not write automation to the MIDI tracks that are playing/recording at the same time?

I like to do 'live passes' to audio, but Ableton with no track record selected, 'writes' the automation to the MIDI tracks?
Is there a way to stop this for 'resampling' audio tracks?

If I do a few takes to a resampled track, the MIDI automation gets recorded over and over ontop of each other, so its a bit of a mess.

Can I just get a setting where the 'live' automation isn't written to the MIDI tracks?

Hope that makes sense.

There is the Automation Arm button in the top and Session Automation Recording switch in the Record/Warp/Launch Preferences.
