Midi routing into Ableton with Behringer RD-09

Post by schlechte » Fri Jan 21, 2022 2:27 pm

Hi guys this is my first post so I hope it’s in the right forum.

Just purchased the new Behringer RD-09 drum machine. I want to sequence a drum pattern on the drum machine and be able to record each individual instrument onto their own midi channel in Ableton.

For instance the Bass drum on one midi channel, Snare on another so on so forth. Currently the one drum pattern is on one midi channel with all the instruments included, I don’t know how to seperate them.

I’m using an U-Phoria UMC404 soundcard currently and I’m aware that potentially this is where the limitation lies. Maybe I need a bigger multi channel soundcard or even a mixing desk.

Can anybody help? Thanks

The RD9, like most drum machines, sends its midi over one channel (traditionally Ch.10 but that's up to you). You can't send each instrument over a different channel.
