Losing Macro Mapping (VST) & MFL

Post by Mangrove » Thu Apr 14, 2022 2:34 pm

Hi fellow Abletoneers,

I'm kindof in a pickle here,
When my Live set is crashing and I restore the backup after restarting Ableton Live11,
I find some VST & MFL Macro Mapping links been broken.

Anyone experiencing the same problem?
Any workaround?

Best regards,
Mangröve

I rarely use any VST so I can't say much about this, but I'm regularly experiencing lost mapping (from eg LFO) in clips I saved in my User Library.
Pretty sure this happens when the M4L devices are updated (which happened many times in the recent years). This is a real pita...

First thought for me here is that once a project crashes - I never go back. I've soon stopped using the auto recovery option as over time those projects were never really 'secure'. I soon developed the habit of saving the project regularly - say every 20 minutes or after an intensive piece of of work. I just label the project 'xyzname A', 'xyzname B', etc. just adding a letter each time. Then if version 'F' goes belly up - I drop back to 'E' and typically not a lot is lost.

And yes I regularly get mappings not working correctly - I'm not sure why? Today the midi effect Expression Control loses it's names and some aren't working correctly. I'm beginning to think it's a particular VST that may be causing it - so I'm testing that out.
