Is it possible to merge Midi tracks while preserving the Channel information?
I'm using DMXIS to control lighting. DMXIS uses Midi Note On messages on Ch 15 to control Bank selection and Ch 16 to control Preset selection.
Two tracks were created to do the Bank and Preset selections. I'm able to merge the two tracks into one by creating a new Midi track, routing the Midi data from the first two tracks to a LoopMidi port, then playback/record the LoopMidi port on the third Midi track during playback. When I play back the recording it only plays on the Midi channel I specify in the output for that channel, not the Midi channel specified during the recording.
Edit: I've been informed of solution in DMXIS where I can use the same channel for Bank & Preset selections. My question still remains though- Can I merge midi tracks and preserve channel info?
Combining Midi Tracks and Preserve Channel?
Re: Combining Midi Tracks and Preserve Channel?
Nope.
Why do you need to merge the tracks? If that's purely for the sake of simplifying your set, you could group your 2 midi tracks.

I'm running the Intro version of Ableton Live which has a track limit of 16.Why do you need to merge the tracks?
Re: Combining Midi Tracks and Preserve Channel?
You could try using the External Instrument device, but I'm not sure it is part of Live Intro...
