Not midi from various devices after booting a set

Post by ChaseBowman » Fri May 20, 2022 1:14 am

Hi everyone!

I've been having a problem for some time where, after closing and re-opening ableton, some of my devices stop working. For example, common m4l devices that generate midi like InstaHous never send midi again, dispite me fiddling with all the dials. I can swap the device for itself and it will work, however then I lose all my midi mappings. It is too time consuming to do this each time, considering the issue is happening with 3 different plugins currently.

Can anyone recommend how to solve the issue when m4l devices are not the same/functional when re-opening a live set? Is there a good way to debug or a workaround?

I'm on a Mac M1 with Ableton 11.15

That sounds to me like some of your MIDI devices send initalizing sequences to establish their presence. The easy way to fix this is to power up your MIDI devices after you power up Ableton.

I don't understand.... you mean keep the m4l device off?

It's not hardware ... I'm only using stuff within ableton.
