E-RM Multiclock And Soloing

Post by appliedrhythms » Thu May 26, 2022 11:19 pm

I’m experiencing some weird behavior with the E-RM Multiclock in Ableton and wondering if anyone has experienced it and found a workaround.

I have the E-RM set up and it seems to be working fine, sync is good, everything works as it should. Until I try to solo a track in Ableton — this cuts out the E-RM click track and all my sequencers stop.

I found a solution on the Elektronauts board suggesting to put the E-RM VST grouped with an External Audio Effect Device to exclude it from soloing behavior. This solves the soloing issue, but now my sync is off.

Screenshots showing the two setups — https://imgur.com/a/eGAiWZE/ — VST by itself vs. grouped with External Audio Effect.

VST solo = right on the grid.
Grouped w/ External Audio Effect = Just slightly earlier.

Delay Compensation and Reduced Latency while monitoring are both on. Adjusting latency on External Audio Device does not affect anything, nor does Track Delay.

Can anyone help me understand why this is happening or how I can fix it?
