How to bounce out audio from Modern and Massive
How to bounce out audio from Modern and Massive
I notice I can't freeze/flatten tracks that are set to In, but they have to be set to In to be able to play them through Kontakt.
Pro Tools allows you to just commit tracks coming out of Modern and Massive to Audio.
Just wondering if that's possible in Ableton, and what I'd need to do to make it possible or any work arounds.
Thanks!

You're routing midi tracks with midi clips but no instrument to another midi track (set to IN) where Kontakt is loaded with your instrument(s), is that right?

I have one MIDI track with Kontakt on it, and Modern and Massive loaded up.
I have all the drum MIDI information on that MIDI track.
Within Modern and Massive, I route the various drum pieces (kick/Snare/OH/Room etc) out to audio tracks in Ableton so they play through those audio tracks, and I can then process them there.
The drum MIDI track (with Kontakt on it) is on track 39. On the audio tracks (tracks 40-44), I'd set the Ext. In dropdown menu to 39-Kontakt, and then the channel to 3/4 Kontakt, and on the next audio track 5/6 Kontakt, and so on.
And the audio tracks are set to In so they're audible.

The only workaround I can think of is recording each track out to a new audio track one by one... but that sucks.

Set those track to AUTO before freezing them? I didn't try, just wondering if that would work.

Another routing technique is to use the External Instrument device to send midi to a Kontakt channel and receive back its signal.
In this case freezing works.

Stupid me, you can't freeze an audio track if it has no clip...
