Now I know why I should have installed VST and Components versions.
When I open an older ableton project or a template I sometimes have a missing VST2 plugin warning. Is there a way to replace the instances of the plugin I used with the component versions I actually have installed, but keep the patch and settings intact?
If I just drag something like the Serum plugin onto the missing VST2 it resets the patch to INIT instead of using the correct sound the file was saved with

i still can't wrap my head around the fact we can replace missing samples but we can't replace a missing vst...
Wouldn't it be super simple for us to just be able to replace a vst to au or whatever? even with losing the preset it would make it so much easier to load up old projects or collabs.
