DJ Set with Ableton and volumes / gains

Post by Wakeon » Wed Aug 10, 2022 8:29 am

Hello everyone !
I need your help today. I(ve to play a DJ set for a gig in August and i've some issues and problems.
I want to mix with a controller and 2 launchpads (such as Madeon for his DJ sets).
So i prepared my tracks but some of them have different volumes (some songs hit at 0db, others at -3db...).

How to fix that ? Should I make a compressor and a limiter on the master ? I tried it doesn't fix the problem.
Should I normalize songs with Ableton (by consolidating the track) ?

When i check the Madeon's DJ set, all his tracks sounds same so I think he makes something but I don't know what

Thanks for your help !
:)

Just adjust all of the clip volumes by ear so that they sound the same, that’s how I used to do it. No different from a DJ adjusting the gain on a mixer for vinyl records being different volumes like DJs have been doing for decades.
