Midi Keyboard keys trigger record
Hey there,
I am pretty new to setting up Midi keyboards in Ableton. I usually just use my Push. I just received an M-Audio Hammer 88 and am working on setting it up in Ableton.
I have had it working previously just fine, but every other time I open the program some of the keys trigger strange things. For example the E key triggers the track to start recording. Other keys seem to select different tracks. But the majority of the keys work just fine and play the correct notes.
Any idea on what I messed up here?
Thanks in advance!

Re: Midi Keyboard keys trigger record
You probably selected the wrong Remote Script in Preferences.

Hey pottering,
Is this what you mean by remote scripts? I'm a bit ignorant so forgive me.
Thanks!

That is indeed it.
The thing is, sometimes these control surface settings are meant for when the keyboard itself is at a specific preset. There might be info in some of the included documentation or online documentation.
Otherwise, without knowing Which preset, you can resort to trial and error. Another option is to just change the ‘midi channel’ of the keyboard, which usually does the trick. Lastly, if you don’t even Use the automatic mapping functionality on the keyboard, you can instead just select None in options.

Remote scripts are another name for the "Control Surfaces".
"M-Audio Hammer 88" and "M-Audio Hammer 88 Pro" are different products.
AFAIK (I just googled) "non-pro" M-Audio Hammer 88 has no pads, knobs or sliders, it is a pure keyboard, while M-Audio Hammer 88 Pro has pads, knobs and sliders (Control Surface is basically for the pads/knobs/sliders).
Switch that "Hammer 88 Pro" Control Surface to "None", as the M-Audio Hammer 88 doesn't need it.

That was the fix! I misunderstood "Control surface"... Thanks so much!
